Install GitHub Desktop. On Mac, drag it to your Applications folder.
Then login with your GitHub username when prompted to do so.
From the settings, choose VS Code as your default text editor, and either Terminal (Mac) or Git Bash (Windows) as your default command-line utility:
NOTE: you'll have to install VS Code and Git Bash before selecting them as defaults.
